CAMP FACILITIES: Brookwood Camps established in 1938, stands on the 160-acre former Proctor estate. The park like grounds provides a pristine setting for our campers and staff. A week-long sleep-away program in a beautiful camp location, YEA is designed to be a fun and transformative experience that builds life-long friendships between youth with similar interests. Our program also provides a meaningful opportunity for campers to learn more about some of the issues facing our planet and to get inspired and empowered to take action on those issues.

Campers choose an issue of importance to them (for example, some have chosen climate change, racism, homophobia, homelessness, animal rights) and at YEA they build the knowledge, skills, confidence, and community to take action on that issue long after camp is over. CAMP FACILITIES: Silver Lake is a picturesque camp, situated on over 300 acres of rolling green hills with a 96-acre private lake. Since opening in 2004, we have been busy improving and upgrading all of our facilities. During that time we have built all new bunks and renovated our basketball, tennis, and volleyball courts. We have also expanded our facilities over the past few summers by adding a new soccer field, "Monster" baseball field, skate park, Pool, and brand new state of the art Gymnastics Facility.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Michael and Shari Baer, owners of Camp Chipinaw, established Silver Lake in 2004 as a session camp that allowed campers to attend for 3, 4, or 7 weeks. Silver Lake incorporates all of the traditions, activities, and spirit of Chipinaw… but does it twice each summer! Simply put, we want to provide campers with the opportunity to go to camp for a shorter amount of time and still get the "full camp" experience.

With state of the art facilities and over 50 activities to choose from, Silver Lake offers a warm family feel. CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: (open to campers 15-16 years of age) Are you looking for a way to have a positive impact in your community? Are you thinking of a future career working with children? The Counselor in Training (CIT) program could be just the thing for you! Many of our counselors started out as CITs themselves.

This two-week program allows CITs to gain practical experience working with campers by assisting counselors during classes, afternoon recreational activities, evening programs, and in cabins. Not only will CITs get hands-on leadership experience, they will also attend workshops from Directors and other leaders at camp on a variety of topics such as behavior and risk management, interviewing tips and managing stress – to name a few.

CITs successfully completing the program will be considered for hire in 2016. CIT campers must attend two consecutive weeks. Housing and supervision is not available over the weekend, requiring CITs to return home.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Our nurturing staff, typically current and former Green Ivy teachers along with returning camp staff, provide a caring and supportive environment and create a welcoming, inclusive atmosphere to facilitate connection and friendship. We use a maximum ratio of 5 children to 1 staff member. In the early weeks of camp, we use smaller ratios to support optimal health and safety practices and to nurture campers as they adjust to a new experience. Children are in groups of 5-10 campers and generally grouped by age.

During camp your child will connect with peers and with nature, gain personal and social confidence, and make friends. Through hands on, developmentally-tailored educational activities, children gain confidence, independence, and skills. CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Juguemos Summer Program offers a Spanish Immersion environment for children ages 2-7 while they enjoy enriching learning through activities, games, songs, and more. They enjoy field trips and local attractions like the carousel, pottery studio, origami studio, and the park just to name a few.

Our goal is to help students from all speaking levels to learn Spanish and to have them enjoy their summer in a safe environment. It is conducted in Spanish by highly qualified Bilingual Certified Teachers and Instructors. Ms. Patricia L. de Monte is our Camp Coordinator.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Summers are for having fun. It's a time to spend with friends. To make memories and share experiences that last a lifetime. That's what Mill Basin Day Camp is all about. Mill Basin Day Camp is dedicated to providing an exciting and fulfilling camp experience for both children and their parents by providing fun, recreational, social and educational activities.

We have grown over the past 15 years to become the most popular summer day camp program for kids in the Brooklyn & Queens areas. At least that’s what the kids tell us.

Our staff consists of professionals, many of whom continue to work in child related fields throughout the year. Our directorial staff is comprised of licensed professionals with many years camp experience. All the group leader staff are trained in CPR and First Aid. Our Aquatics programs are staffed by certified and licensed personnel, as required by the NYC Department of Health and American Red Cross.

Safety is our highest priority at Mill Basin Day Camp. We equip our staff and facility with the latest and most modern safety and technological products in order to maintain constant contact and security both on and off the camp facility. Campers also receive Camp Gear which they use throughout the summer.

Our modern, fully air-conditioned facility offers a wide range of activities for children entering Pre-K thru 9th grade in the upcoming September scholastic year. There are Five (5) individual camp programs. Each camp has its own unique and innovative program that best suits the needs of the varying ages of our campers.

There is Pre-School Camp for kids entering Pre-K and Kindergarten. Adventures Camp is for kids entering grades 1 and 2, Stars Camp entering grades 3, 4 & 5.

For older campers there is Explorers Camp for kids going to grades 6 & 7 and they travel as part weeks doing alot of day trips. Finally, there is Teens Camp for teens going to grades 8 & 9 and they are a travel camp. Each group has various methods for integrating new campers into their groups.

Head Counselors are trained to make sure that all campers are introduced to the other campers and are made to feel part of the group in the first few minutes of the camp day. Directors are also at hand to help new campers make any adjustments that they may need.

The typical camp day begins with a first activity at 9:00 am. There are 3 periods in the morning, then lunch, 3 periods in the afternoon. Activities are both indoor and outdoor and are balanced accordingly. Pre-School dismissal times and activities are a bit different and will be explained at a pre-camp parents meeting for registered families.

We realize and understand the pressures facing today's working parents so we have designed a very flexible registration program. Changing your summer schedule by adding, subtracting or changing weeks is never a problem at any time. If summer school is a worry for you, our program is entirely refundable at any time prior to the first day of camp.

CAMP FACILITIES: We have a lake, three swimming pools, large ball fields, a garden and a farm, a playground and separate courts for tennis, basketball, street hockey and volley ball. CAMP SCHOLARSHIPS OR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: At YMCA Camp Weona, we believe that every child should have the chance to experience camp. The YMCA Strong Kids Campaign provides financial assistance to families within our community who are in need of financial support and may not have the ability to pay the full fee. Financial assistance is determined based on a thorough review of an application and a personal interview with the applicant. Assistance will be granted on the basis of financial need resulting from low income, emergency expenses or other circumstances that inhibit an individual’s ability to pay a prescribed fee. As part of our mission, we teach campers responsibility with an opportunity to Earn Their Way to Camp. At YMCA Camp Weona, our rustic cabins provide a home for small groups of no more than 12 campers who live together and attend daily activities as a group. Cabin groups are made up of either boys or girls entering similar grades and registered for the same camp program. Groups of 8-12 campers of similar gender and age attend daily activities together as a cabin with their leaders. The intention is to foster a “family-like” atmosphere within the group. Menu - Our back-to-basics menu is prepared each day in the dining hall. The YMCA offers items that children enjoy in their daily life that help sustain the additional energy needed during long days at camp. CAMP PROGRAM INFO: French Woods Sports and Arts Center provides the summer of a lifetime in a safe, supportive, supervised and age appropriate environment. There are six activities per day, each one hour in length; three of these periods are called majors and three are called minors.

CAMP FACILITIES: At Timber Lake West, Campers live in modern, paneled cabins called bunks. Each bunk is equipped with full bathrooms and storage space for each camper's belongings. Three to four counselors and eight to ten campers make up each bunk.

Campers make their beds, care for their own belongings and practice good personal hygiene. Our professional housekeeping staff maintains and sanitizes the bathrooms daily. A complete packing list and Parents' Manual make the process of preparing for camp as easy and convenient as possible.

The cabin or bunk is where campers learn to live together as a group, to share and to respect each other. We see bunk living as the core of the camp experience - central to our mission of teaching children the skills of making and keeping friends.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Timber Lake West's unique four-week summer camp program offers children a place to make new friends, try new activities and grow as a person. We believe that camp has to be safe and it has to be fun. That's what Timber Lake West is all about. We take all the fun, spirit, excitement and tradition of a full season camp experience and power pack it into four weeks.

Our athletic program includes clinics, instruction, inter-camp tournaments, and plenty of games played just for fun. We create the right balance between competition and good sportsmanship, allowing every camper to be comfortable joining in, while also promoting teamwork and spirit. At Timber Lake West, winning is great but our goal is that every camper walks off the field or court with more friends and feeling better about him or herself.

HARDCORE ATHLETICS:
Hardcore Sports is designed to provide extra instruction and drills in various sports for those campers who elect to work with extra intensity on their skills. The work-out sessions are held during an elective or swim period for those campers yearning to improve their skills, practice for upcoming tournaments or play at a higher level of competition. These campers get a chance to work on their mechanics through drills, practicing game situations, improving their mental preparation, building self-esteem and getting into or staying in great physical shape.

Two periods each day are devoted to swimming and water sports. Our emphasis is on safety, instruction and fun. Our experienced Red Cross certified waterfront staff provides special attention to improving swim skills with the main emphasis, of course, on safety. Timber Lake West's two heated pools set us apart from others. Our Olympic size pool makes free swim a favorite activity while our completely private spring-fed lake, right in the heart of camp, provides the thrill of water-skiing and an extensive boating program, featuring instruction in canoeing, kayaking, row boating, surf bikes, paddle bikes, banana boating and water skiing.

Adventure at Timber Lake West comes alive when our campers challenge themselves to try activities they have never done before. Whether it’s hiking in the mountains, scaling our 35 foot climbing wall or soaring down our zip line, camp is meant to be an adventure.

Our low ropes course gives campers the opportunity to work together toward a common goal while building friendships, self-esteem and self-confidence.

As part of our program each bunk meets with our trained and experienced staff on our low ropes/team building course and on overnight camp outs. As a cohesive unit, the campers work together to accomplish the goals that they set for themselves at the beginning of the four week session.

Each day campers select two activities from a wide variety of athletic, adventure oriented, and performing or creative arts electives. Combined with our scheduled sports and waterfront activities, the Elective periods allow campers to customize their summer program. Before bedtime, campers stop with friends at our Planet West Canteen, complete with snacks, Pop-a-Shot, ping pong, pool tables and air hockey.

CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: Our Teen programs are strong and we’re proud that we continue to attract returning older campers year after year. In spite of all of the other choices that high school-aged children have in today’s world, the large majority of our campers choose to return to Timber Lake West all the way through the end of their Teen summers.

The Timber Lake West Teen Program begins with diverse programming, more day trips out of camp, more choice and flexibility daily, a later wake-up (they ARE teenagers, after all), many community service opportunities and strong staff and supervision. Our Teens alternate between a two-day Whitewater Rafting trip or a two-day trip to Hershey/Dorney Parks.

Our Teens are also part of our apprenticeship program in camp, through which they choose a specialty area and an age group with which they think they might like to work. For several hours each week, they will be assigned to work with these groups so that they can get a feel for coming back as Junior Counselors.

We provide structure, supervision, feedback and training so that they are successful AND prepared to be part of our staff!

OTHER CAMP INFO: It's been said that “teaching kids to count isn't nearly as important as teaching them what counts.” Camp offers the perfect environment to teach children important life lessons that the traditional academic environment just isn't designed to handle.

Under the careful guidance of trained camp professionals, children can learn and practice social skills at a level not offered in school.

While parents are the primary source of values education and character building, the job had been getting harder and harder as affluent lifestyles blur the lines of what really is and is not important. Camp offers an opportunity to reinforce what children are already learning at home.

Moreover, in the recreational setting that includes competitive sports, performing arts, and day-to-day bunk living with nine or ten peers and college-age counselors, children have a unique opportunity to learn, practice and test their values skills.”

Each weekday morning, Maker will post a new project or activity on their Google+ page—30 things to make over six weeks. Each weekday afternoon at 2 PM, tune in to a live Google+ Hangout On Air to meet expert makers who create amazing things.

CAMP FACILITIES: We have a 61,000 sq.ft. fully air-conditioned recreation facility with a 24,000 sq. ft. main arena and a 12,000 sq.ft. auxiliary gymnasium. The Main Arena has seating for all campers, counselors and parents. We have an on-site indoor Olympic Pool, classrooms, computer lab, arts and crafts section, Drama & Cheer areas, sports courts, Atrium Game area, movie room and private dining room, and camp office.

We have 60 acres of outdoor fields, all weather track, three NCAA fields (soccer, baseball and softball), special field for early childhood campers, and outdoor courts.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: At Staten Island Day Camp we offer a three day program and programs from four weeks to eight weeks. We have free door to transportation for all five day programs and free extended hours. We have a full sport and recreation program, all adult counselors and an on-site American Red Cross swim program. We have optional clinics in soccer, basketball, digital and computer technology, cheer, drama and literacy and math enrichment. We are celebrating our thirty-fifth year with the same Owner/Director.

We accept personal checks, Master Card, Visa and Discover. Payment plans available. All programs are on-site. We have a low counselor to camper ratio

Our senior staff includes a retired superintendent of schools and principal, school psychologist and teachers. All senior staff are on-site all day every day. We have specialty coaches and specialists for our clinics.

OTHER CAMP INFO:

We have weekly nationally acclaimed professional entertainment, weekly theme-based activities and events. We have swimming four times a week. Swim activities are supervised by two American Red Cross swim instructors and seven lifeguards. All counselors are in the water with their campers. Our adult to camper ratio in the pool is 4:1.
We have a spirit week with special activities every day an on-site Charity Carnival and a "Color War" that takes place the last week of camp

SUMMER CAMP JOBS:
Summer jobs will be available for counselors and specialists and will be posted on our website. Counselors and specialists must be of college age.

CAMP FACILITIES: Our natural wooded setting, outstanding facilities, and breathtaking waterfront provide campers endless opportunities for outdoor fun.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Campers enjoy a balanced schedule that includes group periods and choice periods each day. During group periods, campers participate in group activities that ensure group bonding and a well-rounded summer. Choice periods provide campers a customized Walden experience, with more time and instruction in the activities they love most.

Walden also has many exciting special days that differ from our regular schedule! Our campers enjoy awesome trip days to places such as Six Flags amusement park. We also have many Special Event Days including Carnival, Big/Little Day, and Superbowl Sunday among many others. Walden campers additionally enjoy camp traditions such as Tribals in the first session and Color War during the second session. Both are four-day events with exciting activities to promote team building and camp spirit. Walden also offers optional mountain bike trips and guided hikes up local Adirondack peaks. Campers may also elect to participate in any number of tournament teams in which they compete against neighboring camps.
